Project 2
Designing with Architectural Principles + Materiality. NATURE OBSERVATORY POST (30% GROUP)
Task :
In this project, students will collaborate in groups to design a Nature Observatory Post within the National Botanical Garden. The goal is to create a space where visitors can appreciate and observe a chosen subject within the garden's ecosystem, providing an immersive and educational experience. Each observatory post should comfortably accommodate two people within a 50-square-meter area. The design should incorporate innovative concepts, sustainable materials, and technologies to promote accessibility and environmental stewardship. Students need to conduct research on tropical subjects for observation, exploring aspects like behavior, habitat, and interactions, and consider architectural principles, material effects, and spatial qualities. The structure should consist of at least 70% dry construction, with up to 30% wet construction allowed. This project involves working in groups of three members.

THINKING AND PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS
Reflecting on the Nature Observatory Post project, our teamwork was essential for meeting the project's demands within a limited timeframe. By assigning tasks strategically, we utilized each member’s strengths, which was crucial for addressing both design and environmental challenges.
The project highlighted the application of TGC. We demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills by analyzing the design requirements and developing innovative solutions. Our ability to generate and create was evident in how we integrated sustainability and functionality into the design. Additionally, the project underscored the value of lifelong learning. Throughout the process, we continually sought to expand our knowledge and adapt to new information, which enriched our skills and contributed to our overall growth.
