Project 1
Research Report (GROUP PROJECT)

Task :

For this group project, we worked in teams of 5–6 members to research and present an essay on a selected theme related to Malaysia's water landscape. The essay, comprising 3,000–5,000 words, required a detailed exploration of historical, cultural, and contemporary issues surrounding water management in Malaysia. Using relevant data, statistics, and case studies, our analysis delved into the evolution of water usage, its cultural significance, and sustainable management strategies for the future.

THEME FOR MY GROUP

Modern Challenges

  • Impact of urbanization on water resources

  • Effects of pollution on water quality

  • Climate change and issues of water scarcity

REFLECTION

Working on the Modern Challenges theme was an eye-opening experience. It made me realize how urbanization, pollution, and climate change are severely affecting Malaysia’s water resources. Researching these issues showed me how rapid urban growth increases water demand while also polluting water sources. The impact of climate change, such as unpredictable rainfall, also deepens the problem.

I was particularly interested in the innovative solutions Malaysia is implementing, like smart water management systems and pollution control technologies. These efforts highlighted that sustainable solutions are possible with the right focus and collaboration.

This project enhanced my research, critical thinking, and teamwork skills. It also made me more aware of how water challenges are not just technical but also linked to human behavior and policies. It inspired me to think about how I can contribute to sustainable water practices in the future, especially through architecture.

In conclusion, this project reinforced the importance of tackling water issues and inspired me to think critically about sustainable water management in my future work.
