Architectural Design Strategy (Weeks 5 – 7)

Task :

Timeline: Weeks 5 – 7 Objective: To establish a clear design position and architectural strategy for the Learning Centre.

In this phase, you are tasked with interpreting the "Learning Centre" concept specifically for the Brickfields community. You must move from analysis to form-finding, utilizing your findings from Phase 1 to propose a design strategy that addresses the urban context, community needs, and heritage character.

Key Tasks & Deliverables:

  •  

    Precedent Studies: Analyze two case studies (one international, one tropical) to understand urban blocks, heritage revival, and tropical design elements.

  •  

    Form Exploration: Produce a series of 1:200 scale abstract massing models to explore typologies (linear, perimeter, diffused) and their relationship to the urban plaza.

  •  

    Design Manifesto: Write a 1000-word essay narrating your design objectives, site synthesis (SWOT), and strategies derived from precedent studies.

  •  

    Presentation (Week 7): Submit 4–6 A1 panels including your SWOT analysis, user group definition, building program, and design strategy diagrams.
