Preliminary studies – Townscape Appraisal & Mini Urban Intervention (15%)

Task :

This project requires conducting a comprehensive Townscape Appraisal of the Brickfields area, analyzing both macro and micro contexts to evaluate the site's character, identity, and visual qualities through methodologies like SWOT analysis and Lynch’s urban elements. Based on these findings, the objective is to design a Mini Urban Intervention within a 15–20 meter radius of the site, aimed at reactivating underutilized public spaces and addressing social or environmental issues to improve community livability. The final deliverables include a compiled data report, a set of 8–10 A1 presentation panels, a 1:200 micro-site model, and a short video capturing the site's sense of place.
