Final Design Presentation & Report

Task :

Project Overview Following the schematic phase of Project 1b, this final stage requires the development of a fully resolved and refined architectural design scheme. The emphasis is on demonstrating a holistic understanding of architecture by integrating environmental strategies, technological solutions, and detailed technical compliance.

Core Objectives & Design Methodology

• Students must expand their design development to thoroughly include regulatory requirements, fire safety, structural concepts, feasibility, and sustainability.

• The design process must actively incorporate environmental strategies and current sustainable design trends.

• The project requires a deep exploration of tectonic and poetic qualities through materiality, texture, and light.

• Students are expected to isolate and develop a selected portion of their building in high detail to showcase technological and architectural resolution.

Key Deliverables

• Pre-Final Design Review (Week 12): An interim milestone requiring the submission of 2D plans, 3D perspectives, and technical drawings (such as green strategies and detailing) to ensure the design is workable and established.

• Final Design Presentation (Week 16): A comprehensive visual presentation utilizing 10-12 A1 or 5-6 A0 panels. This exhibition must include a 300-word design narrative, complete 2D orthogonal drawings, exterior and interior 3D visualizations, detailed technical wall sections, and a 1:200 scale physical model that includes the immediate site context.

• Final Design Report (Week 16 & 17): A thorough A3 landscape-format report documenting the entire 15-week design journey. This report compiles the designer's profile, urban/site analysis, design exploration, technical components, the final portfolio, and a tutor-signed weekly reflective journal.
